AN ACT to amend the Stamp Act, 1921-1974.

[Assented to 12th November, 1976.1

RE it enacted by the Queen's Most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council and the Legislative Assembly of Western Australia, in this present Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—

Short title

1. (1) This Act may be cited as the Stamp Act and citation.

(2) In this Act the Stamp Act, 1921-1974 is approved for

(3) The principal Act as amended by this Act

may be cited as the Stamp Act, 1921-1976.

2. This Act shall come into operation on the sceiffence-

first day of January, 1977.

Section 21

Section 21 of the principal Act is amended by deleting the passage "a bill of lading, or any other" in lines three and four of the proviso to subsection (1) and substituting the word "an".

(b)	by adding after paragraph (8) under the heading "Exemptions." in the item begin- ning with the word "AGREEMENT", the following paragraph

(c)	by deleting the whole of the item beginning with the word "APPRAISEMENTS";
(d)	by deleting from the item beginning with the word "ASSIGNMENT" the words "and Deed of Assignment";

with the words "ATTESTED COPY";

(f) by deleting the whole of the item beginning with the passage "ATTORNEY, Letter or Power of";

(g) by deleting the whole of the item beginning

(h) by deleting the whole of the item beginning with the words "BILL OF LADING";

(i) by adding under the heading "Exemption." in the item beginning with the passage "BOND, COVENANT, OR INSTRUMENT", immediately before the item beginning with the words "BOND FOR ADMINISTRA- TION", the following passage-

or agreement by any person to pay sums of money, as a principal security, in relation to agreements for

(i)  hire of any goods, wares or merchandise;

(ii)   hire, construction or installa- tion of any machinery or plant;

(o) by adding under the heading "Exemp- tions." in the item beginning with the passage "MORTGAGE (legal or equitable), BOND, DEBENTURE, COVENANT, WARRANT OF ATTORNEY to confess and enter up judgment and FOREIGN SECURITY of any kind", the following paragraph

(u)	by deleting the whole of the item beginning with the words "WARRANT OF ATTORNEY of any other kind".
