164 ^lt£QkCS.^FSkt^ ANNO VICESIMO TERTIO ELIZABETHAE SECUNDAE REGINAE .No. 16 of 1974 An Act to amend the Stamp Act 1894-1973 in certain particulars [ASSENTED TO 18TH APRIL, 1974] BE IT ENACTED by the Queen's Most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:- 1. Short title and citation . (1) This Act may be cited as the Stamp Act Amendment Act 1974. (2) The Stamp Act 1894-1973 is in this Act referred to as the Principal Act. (3) The Principal Act as amended by this Act may be cited as the Stamp Act1894-1974. 2. Repeal of and new s. 5. The Principal Act is amended by repealing section 5 and substituting the following section:- " 5. Appointment of Commissioner , Deputies , and other officers. The Governor in Council may from time to time appoint an officer to be called the Commissioner of Stamp Duties, and may appoint an Assistant Commissioner of Stamp Duties and such Deputy Commissioners of Stamp Duties as may be deemed necessary. The Commissioner of Stamp Duties shall receive as remuneration for his services such sum as Parliament may from time to time appropriate for that purpose. . The Governor in Council may from time to time appoint such assessors and other officers as may be necessary for carrying out the provisions of this Act.

Stamp Act Amendment Act 1974, No. 16 165 Any reference in any other Act to the Chief Deputy Commissioner of Stamp Duties shall be read as referring to the Assistant Commissioner of Stamp Duties.". 3. Validation of appointments . Every appointment made by the Governor in Council purportedly under authority conferred on him by section 5 of the Principal Act before the passing of this Act shall be deemed to have been duly made under sufficient authority. 4. Amendment of First Schedule . The Principal Act is amended by, in the First Schedule, (a) omitting the heading comprising the words "POLICIES OF INSURANCE (other than Policies of Life Assurance Policies of Accident Insurance issued under " The Workers' Compensation Acts, 1916 to 1965 "- " and substituting the following heading:- POLICIES OF INSURANCE (other than Policies of Life Assurance and Policies of Accident Insurance issued under the Workers' Compensation Act 1916-1973)-"; (b) under the heading " POLICIES OF INSURANCE (other than Policies of Life Assurance and Policies of Accident Insurance issued under the Workers' Compensation Act 1916-1973)-" as inserted by this Act- (i) in provision (4), omitting the words " motor cycle or "; (ii) in provision (6), omitting the words " (other than a motor cycle) "
