AN ACT to amend the Stamp Act, 1921-1959.
[Assented to 11th October, 1960.]
BE it enacted by the Queen's Most ExcellentMajesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council and the Legislative Assembly of Western Australia, in this present Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—

S. 49A
| added. | 3. The principal Act is amended by adding after |
section forty-nine, the following section:-

(a) a charitable body;
| (b) | a body established for community welfare purposes; |
| (c) | a Friendly Society registered under the Friendly Societies Act, 1894; or |
| (d) | a body established for patriotic pur- poses, |
the Commissioner may grant the applicant a
written certificate to that effect.
(2)
Duty shall not be charged on cheques or orders for the withdrawal of moneys deposited in any bank by any of the bodies referred to in subsection (1) of this section to which a certificate under that subsection has been granted.
(3)
Any body of the kind referred to in paragraph (a), (b), (c) or (d) of subsection (1) of this section may make the application referred to in that subsection.

| (b) | by substituting for the words, "the State or Commonwealth Savings Bank by Friendly Societies or other similar bodies", in lines two, three and four of the second paragraph under the heading, "Exemption" under the heading, "Cheque or Order payable on demand", the passage, "any bank by a charitable body, a body established for community welfare purposes, a Friendly Society registered under t h e Friendly Societies Act, 1894, or a body established for patriotic purposes, to which the Commis- sioner has granted a certificate under section forty-nine A of this Act"; and |
| (c) | by substituting for the words, "the Govern- ment", in line two of item (10) under the heading, "Exemptions", under the heading, "Receipt (not being a receipt given by or to a Building Society)", the word, "any." |
