E it enacted by the King's Most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legis- lative Council and Legislative Assembly of Queensland in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:- 1. This Act may be cited as " The Special Sales of Short title. Land Act of 1901." 2. This Act shall be read and construed with and as Act to be read an amendment of, and shall be deemed to be incorporated ~ ithr/ ' ' J~ e in, " The Land Act, 1897,"· hereinafter called the PrincipaI18~7 ... c, . Act. 8. Notwithstanding any prOVISIons of the Principal Sale of Act, the Governor in Council may cause country lands, country land. not being distant less than twenty miles from a navigable stream, to be offered for sale by public auction in parcels of an area exceeding three hundred and twenty acres, but not exceeding five thousand one hundred and twenty acres. The upset price shall be determined by the Governor in Oouncil, but shall not be less than ten shillings per acre. . The powers conferred by this section are in addition to any powers conferred by the Principal Act. And any land sold under the provisions of this Act shall not be estimated in reckoning the quantity of land that may be sold by auction in any year under the provisions of that Act. 4. No land shall be sold under the provisi'ons of this Land ,?ourt Act unless 01' until the Land Oourt, upon a reference byt~ f; : : l~ ; : ie. the Minister in that behalf, has certified to the Minister that the land proposed to b~ so sold is not likely to be required within a reasonable time for the purposes of agricultural settlement. 41 61 Vie. The Governor in Council may, by the Proclamation notifying the sale of any land by public auction under the provisions of this Act, impose such conditions with respect to the amount of deposit required to be paid in cash, and the time or times for payment of the balance of the pur- chase money, as he may think fit, but so that the time for payment shall not be extended beyond ten years from the time of the sale. If the time for payment is extended beyond six months from the time of the sale, all instalments payable at a later date sball bear interest at the rate of five pounds per centum per annum from the time of the sale. Land offered 6. All land offered for sale under the provisions of faodrvesartliese to d. be this Act shall be fully advertised for at least four weeks prior to the day of sale in the principal newspapers pub- lished in the district in which the hmd is situated, and also in the principal newspapers published in Brisbane, Rockhampton, and 'rownsville, and such other journals or newspapers as the Minister may deem advisable. Maps to be exhibited: 7. When land is proclaimed to be sold by public auction under the provisions of this Act, maps shall be prepared and exhihited to the public at the office of the . Land Agent in whose district the land is situated, showing the land proclaimed vpen for sale, its distance from railway or water carriage, all reserves intended to be made, the boundaries and areas of the land intended to be sold, and such other information and particulars concerning the land as may be required. Land not sold 8. All land offered for sale by auction under the ;::C::Sed at provisions of this Act which is not bid· for or withdrawn upset price. from .sale shall for six months be and remain open to pur- chase by the first applicant at the upset price; and the price shall be payable in the same instalments as if the land had been sold at the auction. Other 9. J~ xcept as hereinbefore pl'ovided, the provisions of pLraonvdisiAoncts toof the Principal Act relating to the sale of land by auction, apply. and to the subsequent purchase of land offered for sale by auction, shall apply to land offered for sale by auction under this .A ct. Application. 10. All moneys received in payment for land sold by d~ s~ ~ ~ ~ : ~ d~ r auction under the authority of this Act, or subsequently Treasury purchased under the provisions of section one hundred and Bills.

Prickly Pear Selections Act. seventy-five of the Principal Act, shall be paid into the Consolidated Revenue Fund, and shall be applied as follows, that is to say:- (1) In each of the years ending on the thirtieth day of June, one thousand nine hundred and two~ and the thirtieth day of June, one thousand nine hundred and three respectively, the Governor in Council may direct any part of such moneys to be applied in payment of any sums appropriated by Parliament for the ser- vices of those years respectively. (2) Subject to any such direction the moneys so received shall be placed to the credit of a. special account to be called the "Treasury Bills Account," and shall be applied jn the first place in defraying the interest upon the Treasury Bills made out under the authority of "1 J he Treasury Bills Act of 1901,"* whether such Bills or any of them have actually been sold or disposed of or not, and in the second place in the payment and discharge of sueh of the same rrreasurv Bills as have been sold or disposed of.
