I, JOCELYN MARGARET NEWMAN, Minister for Family and Community Services, make the following determination under section 24A of the Social Security Act 1991.

Part 1        Preliminary

Citation

  1. This determination may be cited as the Social Security (Rotary Foundation Ambassadorial Scholarship) Determination 2000.

Interpretation

  1. In this determination:

Act means the Social Security Act 1991.

Ambassadorial Scholarship means a scholarship provided to a person by the Rotary Foundation for the purpose of assisting the person to pursue vocational studies overseas to further international understanding and friendly relations among people of different countries.

income support payment has the meaning specified in subsection 23(1) of the Social Security Act 1991.

Commencement

  1. This determination commences on the day it is signed.

Part 2        Approved Scholarships

Ambassadorial Scholarships

  1. If a person:

(a)       is receiving an income support payment; and

(b)       is awarded an Ambassadorial Scholarship;

then, the Ambassadorial Scholarship is an approved scholarship or an approved class of scholarships, as the case may be, provided that the Ambassadorial Scholarship does not contain any component for living expenses.
