I, PHILIP MICHAEL JEFFERY, Governor-General of the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, make the following Regulations under the Social Security (Administration) Act 1999 for the purposes of the Social Security Act 1991.

1Name of Regulations

These Regulations are the Social Security Regulations 2004.

2Commencement

These Regulations commence on the date of their notification in the Gazette.

3Definition

In these Regulations:

Act means the Social Security Act 1991.

4Meaning of humanitarian purpose (Act s 1212B)

For the purposes of paragraph 1212B (c) of the Act, a specified purpose is attendance, as a formally selected member of the Australian Paralympic Team, for participation as a competitor, at the international athletic competition known as the Paralympic Games.
