An Act to amend the Shop Trading Hours Act 1984

Be it enacted by His Excellency the Governor of Tasmania, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council and House of Assembly, in Parliament assembled, as follows:

1Short titleThis Act may be cited as the Shop Trading Hours Amendment Act 2000 . 2CommencementThis Act commences on the day on which this Act receives the Royal Assent. 3Principal ActIn this Act, the Shop Trading Hours Act 1984 is referred to as the Principal Act. 4Section 5A substituted Section 5A of the Principal Act is repealed and the following section is substituted: 5AExtended shop trading Notwithstanding section 5 , a shop to which that section applies may be kept open – (a) between 6 p.m. and 9 p.m., or for any period of time between those hours, on only one of the following days: (i) 18 December 2000; (ii) 19 December 2000; (iii) 20 December 2000; and (b) between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m., or for any period of time between those hours, on both the following days: (i) 24 December 2000; (ii) 31 December 2000.
