I, the Governor in and over the State of Tasmania and its Dependencies in the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Executive Council, make the following regulations under the Sentencing Act 1997 .18 June 2018

1Short titleThese regulations may be cited as the Sentencing Regulations 2018. 2CommencementThese regulations take effect on the day on which their making is notified in the Gazette. 3InterpretationIn these regulations – Act means the Sentencing Act 1997. 4Costs of warrantFor the purposes of sections 46 and 52 of the Act, the cost of a warrant of commitment is $60. 5Amount of prescribed unitFor the purposes of sections 48(1) and 51(1) of the Act, the prescribed unit for a financial year is the value of a penalty unit for that financial year as calculated under section 4A(2) of the Penalty Units and Other Penalties Act 1987. 5APrescribed officers [Regulation 5A Inserted by S.R. 2018, No. 81, Applied:18 Dec 2018] A person whose duties include the following is prescribed as a prescribed officer for the purposes of Part 5A of the Act: (a) monitoring or having regular contact with offenders who are subject to home detention orders; (b) administering home detention orders; (c) supervising people who are responsible for the duties referred to in paragraphs (a) and (b). 6Prescribed formFor the purposes of section 89(1)(a) of the Act, the prescribed form is the form set out in Schedule 1. 7Legislation rescindedThe legislation specified in Schedule 2 is rescinded.
