Sentencing Regulations 1998

I, the Lieutenant-Governor in and over the State of Tasmania and its Dependencies in the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Executive Council, make the following regulations under the Sentencing Act 1997 .23 July 1998

1Short titleThese regulations may be cited as the Sentencing Regulations 1998 . 2CommencementThese regulations take effect on the day on which the Sentencing Act 1997 commences. 3InterpretationIn these regulations, the Act means the Sentencing Act 1997 . 4Cost of warrants (1) For the purposes of section 47 of the Act, the cost of a warrant of apprehension is $50. (2) For the purposes of section 49 of the Act, the cost of a warrant of commitment is $50. 5Amount of prescribed unitFor the purposes of sections 48(2) , (5) , 50 and 51(1) of the Act, a prescribed unit is $100.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the regulation) These regulations  set, for the purposes of

(a) the cost of a warrant of apprehension; and (b) the cost of a warrant of commitment; and (c) the amount of a prescribed unit.
