Sentencing Act 1995

Sentencing Amendment Regulations 2008

Made by the Governor in Executive Council.

1.             Citation

These regulations are the Sentencing Amendment
Regulations 2008.

2.             Commencement

These regulations come into operation as follows:

(a) regulations 1 and 2 — on the day on which these regulations are published in the Gazette;
(b) the rest of the regulations — on the day on which the Fines Legislation Amendment Act 2008 section 18 comes into operation.

3.             The regulations amended

The amendments in these regulations are to the Sentencing
Regulations 1996.

4.             Heading to Part 3B inserted

Before regulation 6A the following heading is inserted —

Part 3B — Fines

5.             Regulation 6BA inserted

After regulation 6A the following regulation is inserted —

6BA. Rate for setting period of imprisonment for unpaid
fine (s. 59(3))

The amount prescribed for the purposes of section 59(3)(a) of the Act is $250 per day.

Before regulation 6B the following heading is inserted —
