Senate Elections Act Amendment Act 1984, No. 79 897 BE IT ENACTED by the Queen's Most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:- 1. Short title . This Act may be cited as the Senate Elections Act Amendment Act 1984. 2. Principal Act and citation as amended . (1) In this Act The Senate Elections Act of 1960 is referred to as the Principal Act. (2) The Principal Act as amended by this Act may be cited as the Senate Elections Act 1960-1984. 3. Amendment of s. 3. Power to fix dates for election and place of nomination . Section 3 of the Principal Act is amended by- (a) inserting after paragraph (i) the following paragraph:- "(ii) For the close of the Rolls;"; (b) renumbering paragraphs ( ii), (iii ) and (iv) as paragraphs (iii), (iv) and (v). 4. Amendment of s. 4. Dates and places of nominations, to be specified in the writ . Section 4 of the Principal Act is amended by inserting after the words "dates fixed for" the words "the close of the Rolls,". 5. Amendment of s. 8. Hours of polling . Section 8 of the Principal Act is amended by omitting the words "eight o'clock in the evening" and substituting the words "six o'clock in the afternoon".
