SEEDS ACT 1982—REGULATION

(Amending the Schedules of declared weeds and prohibited seeds)

HIS Excellency the Governor, with the advice of the Executive Council, and in pursuance of the Seeds Act 1982, has been pleased to make the Regulation set forth hereunder.

The Seeds Regulation 1994 is amended:

(a) by omitting from Schedule 1 the matter relating to the following:

Bulbous Oatgrass
Docks (not Sorrel)
Glaucous Star Thistle
Mexican Poppy
Slender Thistle

Three-comered Jack

and by inserting instead the following matter:

Bulbous Oatgrass .......... Arrhenatherum elatius var. bulbosum (Willd) Spenner

Docks (not Sorrel) ............................ Rumex spp. (not R. acetosella L. s.lat.)

Glaucous Star Thistle ........................................... Carthamus glaucus M.Bieb
Mexican Poppy .................................................. Argemone mexicana L. s.lat.

Slender Thistle ....... Carduus pynocephalus L. and Carduus tenuiflorus Curtis.

Three-cornered Jack .................................................... Emex australis Steinh.

(b) by omitting from Schedule 2 the matter relating to the following:

Blue Heliotrope
Hemlocks
Mignonette
Perennial Thistle
Serrated Tussock

and by inserting instead the following matter:

Blue Heliotrope ...................................... Heliotropium amplexicaule M. Vahl

Hemlock ..................................................................... Conium maculatum L.

(c) by omitting from Schedule 2 the following matter:

Indian Hemp .......................................................... Cannabis sativa L. s.lat.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

The object of this Regulation is to correct certain plant names in Schedules 1 (Declared Weeds) and 2 (Prohibited Seeds) to the Seeds Regulation 1994. In addition, this Regulation removes from Schedule 2 the seed of the Indian Hemp plant as a prohibited seed.

This Regulation is made under the Seeds Act 1982, including section 31 (the general

regulation-making power).
