An Act to amend " The Seed Wheat Act, 1896."

E it Enacted by the Governor, with the advice and consent of

the Parliament of South Australia, as follows:

1. This Act may be cited as " The Seed Wheat Amendment Act, short title.

1897," and shall be incorporated with "The Seed Wheat Act,

1896," hereinafter referred to as the principal Act.

2. Seed wheat may be supplied to farmers for sowing during the Seed may be sqplied

been supplied for sowing during the year one tl-iousand eight

hundred and ninety-seven, except that the wed shall be sown during

the year one thousand eight hundred and ninety-eight; and the dates

for computation of interest and payment of principal and interest

shall bc one year later than the dates mentioned in the principal

Act.

3, Any District Council, in any case in which the District Council Extensions-

shall be satisfied that the failure of the crop for the year one thousand eight hundred and ninety-seven renders an extension of time desirable, may grant an extension, not exceeding one year, for the payment of any money payable in respect of seed supplicd for sowing during the year one thousand eight hundred and ninety- seven; and all such money, with the interest for both years, shall be s charge on the farm and all crops grown thereon, and shall be recoverable as mentioned in the principal Act.

Penalty.

4, Any person receiving seed wheat for sowing pursuant to this

Act and omitting before the thirty-first day of July next to sow it on the farm intended or to return i t to the District Council, shall be

liable, on summary conviction, to imprisonment, with or without

hard labor, for any term not exceeding one year.
