(Relating to the exemption of certain persons from the operation of the Act)

HIS Excellency the Governor, with the advice of the Executive Council, and in pursuance of the Security (Protection) Industry Act 1985, has been pleased to make the Regulation set forth hereunder.

The Security (Protection) Regulation 1986 is amended by omitting
item 4 from Schedule 1 and by inserting instead the following item:

4.  Persons employed by the Sheriff’s Office, Department of Courts Administration, while carrying out any of the security functions of that Office.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

The object of this Regulation is to exempt persons employed by the Sheriff’s Office from the operation of the Security (Protection) Industry Act 1985 while they are carrying out any of the security functions of the Office. At present, the only employees of the Office that are exempted are those who perform security duty in relation to the safety of judges and jurors and court premises.

This Regulation is made under the Security (Protection) Industry Act 1985, including

section 4 (2) (a).
