Explanatory note
The object of this Regulation is to modify the requirement that an apprentice or a trainee be directly supervised in order to be exempt from the operation of the Security Industry Act 1997 so that it will only apply to first-year apprentices or trainees.

This Regulation is made under the Security Industry Act 1997, including sections 6 (3) and 48 (the general regulation-making power).

1      Name of Regulation

This Regulation is the Security Industry Amendment (Apprentices and Trainees
Exemption) Regulation 2014.

2      Commencement

This Regulation commences on the day on which it is published on the NSW legislation website.

3 Amendment of Security Industry Regulation 2007

Schedule 1 Exempt persons

Insert “in the case of an apprentice or a trainee who has not yet completed the first year of his or her term of apprenticeship or traineeship,” before “only” in clause 26 (b).
