SECONDARY EDUCATION AUTHORITY AMENDMENT

ACT 1995

AN ACT to amend the Secondary Education Authority

Act 1984.

[Assented to 20 December 1995.]

The Parliament of Western Australia enacts as follows:

Short title

1. This Act may be cited as the Secondary Education Authority

Amendment Act 1995.

Commencement

2.     This Act comes into operation on such day as is fixed by

proclamation.

Principal Act

3. In this Act the Secondary Education Authority Act 1984* is

referred to as the principal Act.

Section 12 amended

4.     Section 12 (1) of the principal Act is amended —

(a)

by inserting after paragraph (e) the following paragraph —

(ea) to establish and carry into effect procedures for ensuring the proper conduct of examinations in subjects in which students are assessed for purposes of certification;

and

(b)

by inserting after paragraph (f) the following paragraph —

(fa) to establish, determine the criteria for, and administer exhibitions, awards and prizes to be granted in recognition of student performance in subjects in which students are assessed for purposes of certification;

Section 35 amended

5. Section 35 of the principal Act is amended —

(a)

in paragraph (a), by deleting "and fees to be payable"; and

(b)

by deleting paragraph (b) and substituting the following paragraph —

(b) the fees that are payable to the Authority under this Act, including —

(i) fees payable in relation to subjects in which students are assessed for purposes of certification;

(ii) fees payable for

prescribed

materials provided

by the

Authority; and

(iii) fees payable for

prescribed

services provided

by the

Authority.
