Act to amend the Seat of Government (Administration) Act 1910–1965 in relation to the Power of the Governor-General to
make Ordinances and to repeal section 11 of that Act.

BE
it enacted by the Queen’s Most Excellent Majesty, the Senate, and the House of
Representatives of the Commonwealth of Australia, as follows:—
Short
title and citation.
1.—(1.) This Act may be cited as the Seat of Government (Administration) Act 1970.
(2.) The Seat of Government (Administration) Act 1910–1965
is in this Act referred to as the Principal Act.
(3.) The
Principal Act, as amended by this Act, may be cited as the Seat of Government (Administration) Act 1910–1970.
Jurisdiction
of Inferior Courts.
2. Section 11 of the Principal Act is repealed.
Ordinances.
3.—(1.) Section 12 of the Principal Act is amended
by omitting sub-section (1.) and inserting in its stead the following
sub-section:—
“(1.)
The Governor-General may make Ordinances for the peace, order and good
government of the Territory.”.
(2.) Notwithstanding
the amendment made by the last preceding sub-section, Ordinances in force under
the Principal Act immediately before the commencement of this Act continue in
force and may be amended or repealed by Ordinances made under the Seat of Government (Administration) Act 1910
