Seamen’s War Pensions and Allowances Regulations2 (Amendment)

I, THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL of the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, hereby make the following Regulations under the Seamen’s War Pensions and Allowances Act 1940.

Interpretation

1. Regulation 4 of the Seamen’s War Pensions and Allowances Regulations is amended by moving the definition of “funeral benefit” in that regulation to its proper alphabetical position in that regulation.

Clothing allowance

2. Regulation 38a of the Seamen’s War Pensions and Allowances Regulations is amended—

(a) by omitting from column 3 of the table in sub-regulation (1) “4.90”, “3.20” (twice occurring) and “2.30” (twice occurring) and substituting “5.30”, “3.50” and “2.50”, respectively;

(b) by omitting from sub-regulation (2) “$4.90” and substituting “$5.30”; and

(c) by omitting from sub-regulation (4) “$59.80” and substituting “$65”.

Application

3. (1) The amendments in paragraphs 2 (a) and (b) apply in respect of instalments of allowance payable after 17 December 1986.

(2) The amendment in paragraph 2 (c) applies in respect of any amount payable after 17 December 1986.
