An Act to apply to Newcastle and to other Por ts as occasion may require the provisions of the Wate r Police Regulat ion Act of 1853 respect­ ing Seamen's Lodging-houses, [22nd August, 1855.]

WH E R E A S from the grea t increase of Sh ipping Newcas t le i t has become expedient to extend to t h a t por t t he
a t t he P o r t of
provisions respec t ing Seamen ' s Lodging-houses contained in t he Ac t

of Counci l seventeen Victor ia n u m b e r th i r ty - s ix A n d whereas it m a y also become expedient to ex t end t h e same provisions to o ther por ts of increas ing t r ade Be it therefore enacted by H i s Excel lency t h e Governor

of N e w South W a l e s wi th t h e advice a n d consent of t h e Legislat ive

Council thereof as follows :—

1. F r o m and after t he first day of J a n u a r y now n e x t t he provisions

conta ined in t h e thirty-first to t he th i r ty -e igh th sections bo th inclusive of t h e said rec i ted A c t shall be applied to a n d wi th in t he City of New­ castle a n d the ne ighbourhood thereof in t h e same m a n n e r and to all

i n t en t s a n d purposes as if t he said City a n d ne ighbourhood had been

expressly ment ioned in t h e said several sections of t he said Act .

2. W h e n e v e r i t shall appear to t he Governor w i th t h e advice
of H i s Execu t ive Counci l expedient t o ex tend the said provis ions to
any o ther por t or place m u c h resor ted to by sh ipp ing and seamen it
shal l be lawful for t h e said Governor by notification in the New South

Wales Government Gazette to declare such por t or place and the ne ighbourhood thereof to be wi th in t he said provisions and the reupon t h e same shall apply to and wi th in t h e said por t or place and t h e neighbourhood thereof in t h e same m a n n e r to all i n t en t s and purposes as if t h e said por t or place and ne ighbourhood had been expressly ment ioned in t he said sections of t h e said recited Act .
