Seamen’s Compensation Regulations2 (Amendment)

I, THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL of the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, hereby make the following Regulations under the Seamen’s Compensation Act 1911.

1. Amendment

1.1 The Seamen’s Compensation Regulations are amended as set out in these Regulations.

2. Regulation 118 (Amounts prescribed for the purposes of certain provisions of the Act)

2.1 Table:

3. Regulation 119 (Amounts prescribed for the purposes of clause (1) (a) (i) of Schedule 1 to the Act)

3.1 Paragraph (a):

Omit “$68,100”, substitute “$70,010”.

3.2 Paragraph (b):

Omit “$27.30”, substitute “$28.10”.

4. Regulation 120 (Amount prescribed for the purposes of subparagraph (1) (b) of Schedule 1 to the Act)

4.1 Omit “$218.90”, substitute “$225.00”.

5. Application

5.1 The amendments effected by these Regulations apply in relation to:

(a) weekly payments of compensation under the Seamen’s Compensation Act 1911 in respect of any period commencing after 12 December 1990; and

(b) payments of compensation (other than weekly payments) under the Act in respect of:

(i) an injury sustained, or disease suffered, by a seaman after 12 December 1990; or

(ii) a loss or event that occurs after 12 December 1990;

resulting from any other injury sustained, or disease suffered, by a seaman.
