Science and Industry Research (Consultative

Council) Regulations2 (Amendment)

I, THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL of the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, hereby make the following Regulations under the Science and Industry Research Act 1949.

Principal Regulations

1. In these Regulations, “Principal Regulations” means the Science and Industry Research (Consultative Council) Regulations.

Interpretation

2. Regulation 2 of the Principal Regulations is repealed and the following regulation substituted:

“2. In these Regulations:

‘Consultative Council’ means the Consultative Council established by section 56 of the Act;

‘the Act’ means the Science and Industry Research Act 1949.”.

Membership of Consultative Council

3. Regulation 3 of the Principal Regulations is amended:

(a) by omitting paragraphs (1) (a) and (b) and substituting the following paragraphs:

“(a) a Chairperson, being a person referred to in paragraph 56 (1) (a) of the Act, appointed by the Board;

(b) persons, not exceeding 7 in number, referred to in paragraph 56 (1) (a) of the Act, appointed by the Board;”;

(b) by omitting from paragraph (1) (f) “(Fourth Division Officers)”;

(c) by omitting from paragraph (1) (h) “organizations” (wherever occurring) and substituting “organisations”;

(d) by omitting subregulation (2) and substituting the following subregulation:

“(2) The Chairperson of the Consultative Council may be referred to as the Chairman or Chairwoman, as the case requires.”;

(e) by omitting from subregulation (5) “organizations” and substituting “organisations”; and

(f) by omitting from subregulation (9) “organization” (wherever occurring) and substituting “organisation”.

Deputy Chairperson

4. Regulation 4 of the Principal Regulations is amended:

(a) by omitting “Chairman” and substituting “Chairperson”;

(b) by omitting “organizations” and substituting “organisations”; and

(c) by adding at the end the following subregulation:

“(2) The Deputy Chairperson of the Consultative Council may be referred to as the Deputy Chairman or Deputy Chairwoman, as the case requires.”.

Meetings

5. Regulation 5 of the Principal Regulations is amended:

(a) by omitting from subregulation (2) “Chairman” and substituting “Chairperson”;

(b) by omitting from paragraph (2) (b) “Executive” and substituting “Board”;

(c) by omitting from subregulation (3) “Chairman” (wherever occurring) and substituting “Chairperson”;

(d) by omitting paragraph (3) (a) and substituting the following paragraph:

“(a) 4 shall be persons appointed under paragraph 3 (1) (a) or (b);”;

(e) by omitting from paragraph (3) (b) “organizations” and substituting “organisations”;

(f) by omitting from subregulation (4) “Chairman” and substituting “Chairperson”; and

(g) by omitting from subregulation (5) “Chairman” and substituting “Chairperson”.

Minority reports

6. Regulation 7 of the Principal Regulations is amended by omitting “Executive” (wherever occurring) and substituting “Board”.
