An Ordinance to amend the Schools Authority Ordinance 1976

I, THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL of the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, hereby make the following Ordinance under the Seat of Government (Administration) Act 1910.

SCHOOLS AUTHORITY ( A M E N D M E N T ) ORDINANCE 1979
1. This Ordinance may be cited as the Schools Authority (Amend­

ment) Ordinance 1979.1

2. In this Ordinance, "Principal Ord inance" means the Schools Authority Ordinance 1976.2

(a) by omitting from paragraph (1) (e) "Legislative" and substi­
tuting "House of"; and

3. This Ordinance shall come into operation on 2 June 1979.

4. Section 4 of the Principal Ordinance is amended by omitting the definition of "Legislative Assembly" and substituting the following definition:

" 'House of Assembly' means the Australian Capital Territory House

of Assembly constituted by the House of Assembly Ordinance
1936;".

5. Section 10 of the Principal Ordinance is amended—

(b)

by omitting sub-section (4) and substituting the following sub-section:

" ( 4 ) A person is not eligible for appointment as a member
referred to in paragraph (1) (b) , (1) (c), (1) (d) or (1) (e) un­
less he is a member of the body or organization referred to in
that paragraph." .

6. Section 15 of the Principal Ordinance is amended by inserting

after paragraph 2 ( a ) the following paragraph:

" ( a b ) being a member referred to in paragraph ( l ) ( b ) , ( l ) ( c ) , (1) (d ) or (1) (e) of section 10, ceases to be a member of the body or organization referred to in that paragraph;" .

7. Section 18 of the Principal Ordinance is amended by omitting

from sub-section (4) "Legis la t ive" and substituting "House of".

8. Sub-section 10 (4) of the Principal Ordinance, as amended by this Ordinance, does not affect an appointment made under section 10 of the Principal Ordinance before the commencement of this Ordinance.
