AN ORDINANCE

To amend the Scaffolding and Lifts Ordinance 1957.

I, T H E GOVERNOR-GENERAL of the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, hereby make the following Ordinance under the Seat of Government (Administration) Act 1910.

SCAFFOLDING AND LIFTS (AMENDMENT) ORDINANCE

1977

1. This Ordinance may be cited as the Scaffolding and Lifts

(Amendment) Ordinance 1977.*

2. In this Ordinance, "Principal Ordinance" means the Scaffold­

ing and Lifts Ordinance 1957.f

3. Section 2 of the Principal Ordinance is repealed.

4 . (1 ) Part I of the Schedule to the Principal Ordinance is

amended by inserting the following item before item 1 :—

8          Omit paragraph (c), substitute the following paragraph:—

" (c) Add at the end of sub-section (4)—

' (d) building work, not being building work in relation to a single private dwelling-house where the cost of the work does not exceed $2,000; or

(e) building work in relation to a single private dwelling-house where the cost of the work does not exceed $40,000.'.".

' 72A. (1) The fee payable by a person giving notice under section 6 of the

Act is—

(a) in the case of building work, not being building work in relation to a single

private dwelling-house—

(i)   where the cost of the work exceeds $2,000 but does not exceed $100,000—$4 for every $1,000, or part of $1,000, of the cost; or

(ii)    where the cost of the work exceeds $100,000—$400 and, for every $4,000, or part of $4,000, of the cost, $2; or

(b) in the case of building work in relation to a single private dwelling-house—

(i)    where the cost of the work exceeds $40,000 but does not exceed $140,000—20 cents for every $100, or part of $100, of the cost; or

(ii)    where the cost of the work exceeds $140,000—$400 and, for every $4,000, or part of $4,000, of the cost, $2.

' (2) Subject to sub-regulation (3), only one fee is payable in respect of the

notification of all building work comprised in a single project.

' (3) Where a second or subsequent notice is given in relation to a project, the fee payable shall be calculated on the cost of so much only of the project as was not the subject of the prior notice or notices.'.".

20           (a) Insert the following paragraph after paragraph (aa):—

" (ab) Omit sub-regulation (2).".

(b) Insert the following paragraph after paragraph (b):—

" (ba) Omit from sub-regulation (10) ' twenty pounds ', substitute ' 40 dollars
