All such regulations shall be pu blished in the Gazette and shall be laid before Parliament within fourteen 'days after such publication if Parliament is then sitting, or, if not, then within fourteen days after the commence- ment of the next ensuing session. This Act may be cited as "The Salaries Act of Short title 1922," and shall be deemed to have come into operation ~ ~ ! menc~ on the first day of .July. one thousand nine hundred and m,mt twenty-two.· .- of Act.
10196 ss. 2, 3. PUBLIC SERVICE. Salaries Act. 13 GEO. V. No. 7, Interpreta. tion of " salary" and " officer." 2. For the purposes of this Act- ~ The term "salary" means the salary wages allowances fees commission and every other emolument, whether in one sum or several sums provided for by, or paid out of, any annual or special or permanent appropriation of the Consolidated Revenue Fund, or the Loan Fund Account, or any.Trust or Special Fund made by any Act of Parliament as pay- ment for personal services rendered by any person employed in the service of the Govern- ment of Queensland, whether the rate of such payment is or is not specified in such Act, and whether such person is employed in or in connection with one department or several departments; or as payment to any Minister of the Crown, or officer in Parliament, or member or officer of the Legislative Assembly. The term" salary," however, does not include- (a) Overtime payor Sunday payor travelling or relieving expenses or forage or sustenance or Northern or Western allowances (whether such sustenance or Northern or Western allowance is paid as an allowance separate from the principal salary or wages of the officer or his principal salary or wages is or are paid at an increased rate in lieu of the payment of such sustenance or Northern or Western allowance as a separate allowance) or any other allowances or emoluments which the Governor in Council may determine; or (b) A pension or superannuation or retiring allow- ance or gratuity for loss of office or on death. The term" officer" means a person to whom salary as herein defined is payable, and includes a Minister of the Crown, and an officer in Parliament, and a member or officer of the Legislative Assembly. Reduction of 3. Notwithstanding the provisions of any Act to salaries. the contrary, every officer, instead of being paid the salary which except for this Act he would have been entitled to receive, shall, without further or other authority than this Act, be paid such salary less a reduction at the rate of five pounds per centum per annum:

The rate of pension or superannuation or retiring R1~ ~ S of . aolrloownadnecea, tho, r tcoomwphe l · e nhsatainoyn o 0 rffigcreartuoirty h f i sorrelopsrsesoefntoaftfI . ivcee P n b 8 o y 1 t l r S e a lO d ff n uecc & t t ie C o d n ' . shall at any time hereafter become entitled pursuant to any Act, shall not be lessened or diminished in conse- quence of any reduction having been made pursuant to this Act in the salary of such officer, but such pension superannuation or retiring allowance or compensation or gratuity shall be paid at the rate at which the same would have been paid if no such reduction of salary had been made: Provided that every such officer shall continue to pay towards any superannuation or retiring fund at the rate which would be payable if his salary had not been reduced pursuant to this Act.
