east by Throne-s t ree t be ing a l ine a t r i gh t angles to Senate-street two
chains to t h e corner a t t h e Cook's R i v e r R o a d as aforesaid (advertised
as n u m b e r one h u n d r e d and five in t he Gove rnmen t not ice dated t he
t h i r t e e n t h day of December one t housand e ight hundred a n d forty-

seven) U p o n t r u s t for the appropr ia t ion thereof as t he site of a dwell­ ing-house garden a n d o the r appur t enances for t he c le rgyman duly appoin ted to officiate in t h e C h u r c h of t he U n i t e d C h u r c h of E n g l a n d and I re land as by law established erected a t Camperdown and now k n o w n as " Saint S tephen ' s " A n d whereas since t he date of t h e said

g r a n t t he said W i l l i a m G r a n t Brough ton depar ted this life and the R i g h t

Reverend Alfred Ba r ry is now Lord Bishop of Sydney A n d whereas a dwell ing-house or parsonage for t h e c l e rgyman of t h e said Church of Saint S tephen ' s was m a n y years ago erected on t h e said piece or parcel of l and b u t t he same is unsu i tab le for t h e purposes for which the said l and was gran ted a n d i t is expedient t h a t t he said land and parsonage should be sold and t h e proceeds appl ied in or towards t he purchase or erection of other premises in a more sui table posit ion w i t h i n t h e said

buy in t h e same premises or a n y pa r t or par t s thereof a t any auct ion sale or to rescind or va ry t h e t e rms of a n y cont rac t for sale and to resell a n d w h e n sold to convey and assure t h e premises or any pa r t or pa r t s thereof in fee-simple to t h e purchaser or purchasers thereof his her
par i sh of Sain t S tephen ' s Camperdown as a residence for t he c l e rgyman
of t he said chu rch Be i t therefore enacted by t h e Queen ' s Most
Exce l l en t Majesty by a n d wi th t h e advice a n d consent of t h e Legis­
lat ive Council and Legis la t ive Assembly of N e w South Wales in Pa r ­

l i amen t assembled and by the au tho r i t y of t h e same as follows :—

1. I t shal l be lawful for t h e R i g h t R e v e r e n d Alfred Bar ry or

his successors Bishops of Sydney to sell and dispose of t h e said lands so g ran ted as aforesaid toge ther w i th t h e house or parsonage erected

the reon a n d t h e appur t enances the re to belonging e i ther by publ ic

auc t ion or pr iva te con t r ac t and e i ther in one lot or separate lots as he or t h e y shal l deem mos t expedient and for such price or prices as can be obtained for t he same a n d u p o n such t e rms and conditions as to p a y m e n t of t he purchase money and other ma t t e r s as the said R i g h t

Reve rend Alfred B a r r y or his successors m a y deem expedient a n d to

he r or the i r heirs or assigns freed and discharged from all t h e t rus t s affecting t he same created by the said g ran t or otherwise and t h e receipt in wr i t ing of t h e B i g h t Reverend Alfred Ba r ry or his suc­ cessors for any money ar is ing f rom such sale or sales shal l be an effectual and absolute d ischarge to t he purchaser or purchasers of t h e said land or any pa r t or par t s thereof and shall exonera te h im or t h e m from seeing to t h e appl icat ion of any proceeds of such sale or sales and from all l iabil i ty as to t h e mis-appl icat ion or non-appl ica t ion

thereof.
2. The said R i g h t Reverend Alfred Bar ry and his successors shal l s tand possessed of al l moneys ar is ing from each and every such sale or sales as aforesaid U p o n t rus t after p a y m e n t t he reou t of t he expenses of such sale or sales a n d of th is A c t to apply t he same in or towards the purchase of o ther premises s i tuated in t he said parish of Saint S tephen ' s sui table for a parsonage or residence for t he c le rgyman for the t ime be ing duly appointed to officiate in t h e said C h u r c h of Saint S tephen ' s or in t h e purchase of ano ther piece or pieces of l and in t h e said par ish of Saint Stephen 's as a site for t he erect ion thereon of a dwel l ing-house or parsonage for the said c le rgyman and to apply t he

remainder of t h e said moneys (if any) which shall no t be requi red for
t h e purposes last aforesaid in or towards t he erect ion improvemen t or

repair of a dwell ing-house or parsonage for t he said c l e rgyman upon the said land or lands to be purchased as aforesaid and the receipts of any person or persons to w h o m any moneys shall be paid unde r the provisions of th is Act shall be valid and complete discharges to t he said R i g h t Reverend Alfred Bar ry and his successors for such moneys .

3. This Ac t m a y be cited as " Saint S tephen ' s C h u r c h of E n g l a n d

Parsonage Camperdown Sale Act 1886 . "
