1.— (1.) This Ordinance may be cited as the Rural Workers Shorttitie
Accommodation Ordinance 1942.*
(2.) The Rural Workers Accommodation Ordinance 1938 is in
this Ordinance referred to as the Principal Ordinance.
(3.) The Principal Ordinance, as amended by this Ordinance, Definitions,
may be cited as the Rural Workers Accommodation Ordinance 1938-1942. 2. Section three of the Principal Ordinance is amended— (a) by insert ing in the definition of " Owner ", after the
word " o f " (second occurr ing) , the words ", and a lessee of,"; and
(6) by inserting, after the definition of " Pastoral occupa-
tion ", the following definition—
" ' Premises ' means any land, building or place on
or in which any ru ra l worker is employed or
| ^ ^ | accommodated; ". |

(a) by omitting from sub-section (1.) the words "of their provided.
» employer " ; (b) by omitting from the proviso to that sub-seetion the
words " provided for him by his employer" and
•
inserting in their stead the words " so provided for
h i m " ; and (c) by inserting in sub-section (2.), after paragraph (,;'),
the following paragraphs :—
" (ja) each window and each ventilative opening
of any kitchen, dining room and store
•
room is covered with wire gauze of a maximum mesh of one-sixteenth part of an inch;
" (jb) each doorway of any kitchen, dining room
and store room is provided with a light I swing frame, closely fitting and self- closing, and covered with wire gauze of a maximum mesh of one-sixteenth part of an inch;
" (jc) each dining room contains a fire-place the
width of the opening of which is—
(i) where not moro than ten workers are employed—not less than four feet;
(ii) where more than ten workers and not more than fifteen workers are employed—not less than five feet; and
(iii) where more than fifteen workers are employed—not less than six feet:
Provided that the prescribed fire-place
may be provided in a room other than adining room if an inspector so approves; ".
