His Excellency the Lieutenant-Governor, with the advice of the Executive Council, has made the following Regulation under the Rural Lands Protection Act 1998.

Explanatory note
The object of this Regulation is to amend the Rural Lands Protection (General) Regulation
2001 so as:
| (a) | to provide that the State Management Council of Livestock Health and Pest Authorities is to ensure that general elections for elected directors of livestock health and pest authorities are held to enable the directors so elected to take office on 1 July 2009 (rather than 1 May 2009 as is currently provided for by the Rural Lands Protection Act 1998), and |
| (b) | to remove a Schedule from that Regulation made obsolete by the abolition of minimum rates by the Rural Lands Protection Amendment Act 2008. |
This Regulation is made under the Rural Lands Protection Act 1998, including sections 62 (When are rates to be made and levied?), 243 (the general regulation-making power) and clause 7 (a) of Schedule 2 to the Act (Election or appointment of directors).

1 Name of Regulation
This Regulation is the Rural Lands Protection (General) Amendment
Regulation 2009.
2 Commencement
This Regulation takes effect on the day on which it is published on the
NSW legislation website.
3 Amendment of Rural Lands Protection (General) Regulation 2001
(1) Schedule 2 Elections Insert at the end of the Schedule:
35 Determining date of 2009 general election of directors
For the purposes of clause 7 (a) of Schedule 2 to the Act,
1 July 2009 is prescribed.Note. Under clause 7 (a) of Schedule 2 to the Act, the State Council is to ensure that a general election for the elected directors of each board is held to enable the directors of the board elected at the general election to take office on that prescribed date.
(2) Schedule 5 Minimum general and animal health rates Omit the Schedule.
