1242 Rural Fires Act Amendment Act 1984, No. 108 BE IT ENACTED by the Queen's Most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows: 1. Short title and citation . (1) This Act may be cited as the Rural Fires Act Amendment Act 1984. (2) In this Act the Rural Fires Act 1946-1984 is referred to as the Principal Act. (3) The Principal Act as amended by this Act may be cited as the Rural Fires Act 1946-1984. 2. New s. 39A. The Principal Act is amended by inserting after section 39 the following section:- " 39A. Use of brigade equipment on roads while unregistered. The provisions of the Main Roads Act 1920-1983 that prohibit the use on a road of a vehicle, within the meaning of that Act, unless- (a) such use is authorized by a permit issued pursuant to that Act; or. (b) such vehicle is registered, do not apply in respect of any vehicle used on a road for the purposes of a bush fire brigade if- (c) the vehicle is used on a road solely for the purpose of- (i) conveying persons or equipment to or from the work of controlling or suppressing rural fires or of clearing a fire break or removing flammable material or taking steps of a like nature with a view to the prevention, control or suppression of rural fires; or (ii) conveying persons or equipment for training such persons in the work of controlling or suppressing rural fires or of clearing a fire break or removing flammable material or taking steps of a like nature with a view to the prevention, control or suppression of rural fires; (d) the vehicle bears a clear identification as a vehicle of a bush fire brigade; and (e) there is in force a contract of insurance that provides an indemnity, such as is prescribed by section 3 of the Motor Vehicles Insurance Act 1936-1979, in respect of injury caused by, through or in connexion with the vehicle.".
