AN ACT to amend the Rural and Industries Bank

Act, 1944-1951.

[Assented to 10th December, 1953.]

BE it enacted, by the Queen's Most ExcellentMajesty, by and with the advice and consent

of the Legislative Council and the Legislative Assembly of Western Australia, in this present Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—

1. (1) This Act may be cited as the Rural and Tgfgaviemi

Industries Bank Act Amendment Act, 1953.

(2) In this Act the Rural and Industries Bank

Act, 1944-1951,

Act No. 51 of 1944 as amended by Acts Nos. 36 of 1947, 14 of 1949, 40 of 1950 and 4 of 1951 and as affected by Act No. 53 of 1947,

is referred to as the principal Act.

(3) The principal Act as amended by this Act may be cited as the Rural and Industries Bank Act, 1944-1953.

2. Section eight of the principal Act is amended L. —8ended.

by substituting for the word, "three" in line two

the word, "five".

3. Section nine of the principal Act is amended 2:ended.

(a) adding after subsection (2) the following subsections:

(2a) Where a vacancy occurs in an

office of full time Commissioner other

than that of Chairman, the vacancy shall

be filled by an appointment made by the Governor after receiving and considering the recommendation of the Commis- sioners then in office.

(2b) The full time Commissioners shall also act as administrative officers and shall discharge such duties as are allocated to them by the Chairman. ;

(b)	substituting for the words, "one member to be nominated by the Governor" in lines one and two of subsection (3) the words, "the other full time Commissioners";
(c)	substituting for the word, "member" in line nine of subsection (3) the word, "members";
(d)	substituting for the words, "in the present war" in lines twelve and thirteen of sub- section (3) the words, "any war in which the Commonwealth has since been engaged whether before or after the coming into operation of the Rural and Industries Bank Act Amendment Act, 1953";
(e)	adding after subsection (3) the following subsection:

(4) In this section, "full time Commis- sioner" means a Commissioner who is required by subsection (3) of this section to devote the whole of his time and attention to the business of the Bank.

Section ten of the principal Act is amended by substituting for the word, "Commissioner" in lines one and two of subsection (1) the word, "Commissioners".
