These rules are the Rules of Wagering Amendment Rules 2019.

Rules of Wagering Amendment Rules 2019

Made by Racing and Wagering Western Australia with the approval of the Commission under section 120 of the Act.

1.   Citation

2.           Commencement

These rules come into operation as follows -

(a)	rules 1 and 2— on the day on which these rules are published in the Gazette;
(b)	the rest of the rules - on the day after that day.

3.           Rules amended

These rules amend the Rules of Wagering 2005.

4.           Rule 3 amended

(1)	In rule 3(1) delete the definitions of: controlling authority official result participant scheduled starting time
(2)	In rule 3(1) insert in alphabetical order:

approved event means an event, or a contingency, on
or in relation to which bookmaking has been approved
under the Betting Control Act 1954 section 413(2);
controlling authority means, for an approved event or
a sporting event, the body responsible for conducting
the event;
official result, of an approved event or a sporting
event, means the result or outcome of the event, as
declared by the controlling authority for the event
immediately following the end of the event;
participant, in relation to an approved event or a
sporting event, means an individual or a team

contesting the outcome of that event, but does not

include a horse or a greyhound;

(3) In rule 3(1) in the definition of bet back:

(a) in paragraph (a) delete "a sporting event, on a competitor" and insert:

an approved event, on a participant

(b) in paragraph (b) delete "competitor" and insert:

participant

(4)	In rule 3(1) in the definitions of investor, place wager, play or pay and win wager delete "race" and insert:
race, approved event
5.	Rule 30 amended In rule 30(b) delete "a sporting event; and" and insert:
an approved event and a designated sporting event under section 4A of the Betting Control Act 1954; and

6.            Rule 38 amended

In rule 38(l) delete "name of the controlling authority by which that bookmaker is licensed." and insert:

Commission's name.

7.            Rule 40 amended

In rule 40(c) delete "the scheduled starting time of the first race" and insert:

the starting time of the first race (as determined by the relevant
racing club or body conducting the race and notified to RWWA)

8.            Rule 41 deleted

Delete rule 41.

9.            Rule 42 amended

In rule 42 delete "to, in accordance with section 15(3) of the

Betting Control Act 1954, cause" and insert:

to cause

10.          Rule 46 amended

In rule 46(4)(o) delete "racecourse controlling authority in respect of each internet wager accepted, or alternatively, the committee or other body" and insert:

committee or other authority controlling the racecourse in
respect of each internet wager accepted, or alternatively, the
committee or other authority

11.         Rule 62 amended

(1)	In rule 62(1) delete "as declared by the controlling authority responsible for conducting the sporting event" and insert:
of the approved event
(2)	In rule 62(4) delete "a sporting event or contingency" and insert:
an approved event
(3)	In rule 62(5) delete "event or contingency" and insert:
approved event
(4)	In rule 62(6) delete "sporting event - " and insert:
approved event -
(5)	In rule 62(7) and (8) delete "a sporting event" and insert:
an approved event
(6)	In rule 62(9) delete "sporting contingencies" and insert:
approved events
Note: The heading to amended rule 62 is to read:

Wagering on approved events

12.          Various references to "sporting event" amended

In the provisions listed in the Table:

(a) delete "a sporting event" and insert:

an approved event

(b) delete "sporting events or contingencies" and insert:

approved events
