Queensland Subordinate Legislation 1991 No. 84 Racing and Betting Act 1980 NOTIFICATION Rules of Greyhound Racing Control Board of Queensland (Amendment) Rules 1991 Department of Tourism, Sport and Racing Brisbane, 21st September, 1991 I, ROBERT JAMES GIBBS, Minister for Tourism, Sport and Racing, in pursuance of the provisions of the Racing and Betting Act 1980, hereby notify that I have approved the following rules made by the Greyhound Racing Control Board of Queensland. R. J. GIBBS, Minister for Tourism, Sport and Racing Rules of the Greyhound Racing Control Board of Queensland (Amendment) Rules 1991 Short title 1. These rules may be cited as the Rules of Greyhound Racing Control Board of Queensland (Amendment) Rules 1991.
2 Rules of Greyhound Racing Control Board of Queensland (Amendment) Rules 1991 Principal Rules 2. The Rules of Greyhound Racing adopted by the Greyhound Racing Control Board of Queensland on the 1st April, 1989, as subsequently amended, are referred to in the rules as the Principal Rules. Amendment of Rule 16 3. Rule 16 of the Principal Rules is amended by inserting after subrule (c) the following subrule: (d) Where a person is disqualified within the meaning of the Rules of Greyhound Racing and contravenes sub-rule 16(a)(iv) the terms of the disqualification shall automatically recommence from the date of the last contravention of sub-rule 16(a)(iv) and that person may also be further dealt with by the Board. Repeal of and new Rule 128 4. The Principal Rules are amended by repealing Rule 128 and substituting the following rule:— RULE 128: If a greyhound is injured or suffers from an illness after the publication of the original draw, the greyhound shall either be produced on the day or night of the meeting, or a Veterinary Surgeon’s certificate produced to the effect that the greyhound is not in a fit condition to race. Where a Veterinary Surgeon is not available, a statement by the owner, owner/trainer attested by him in the presence of a Justice of the Peace as to the greyhound’s condition, shall be produced. The penalty for a false declaration shall be $200.00. Provided, however, that the Committee or Stewards may demand that the greyhound in question be produced or made available for inspection by an official of a Club. Amendment of Rule 157 5. Rule 157 of the Principal Rules is amended by:— (a) numbering the existing provisions as subrule (1). (b) inserting at the end of the Rule the following subrule:—
3 Rules of Greyhound Racing Control Board of Queensland (Amendment) Rules 1991 “(2) A person breaching this rule shall be liable to a fine not exceeding $100.00.” The Principal Rules are amended by inserting new Rule 179A:— 6. “PENALTY FOR NOT HAVING CATCHING ATTENDANT Rule 179(A). The registered owner, trainer or a person in charge of a greyhound competing in any event shall at the completion of that event, be liable to a fine not exceeding $100 unless a person registered with an approved Registration Authority as an owner or trainer or attendant is present in the catching pen at the completion of the event for the purpose of catching that greyhound.” Repeal of and new Rule 316 7. The Principal Rules are amended by repealing Rule 316 and substituting the following rule:— “RULE 316: A bookmaker offering odds about a runner shall be compelled to lay such odds if demanded by a bettor but he shall not be compelled to stand to lose more than the amounts specified below in respect of win bets made at meetings held by the following Clubs. 4 Rules of Greyhound Racing Control Board of Queensland (Amendment) Rules 1991 Repeal of and new Rule 321 8. The Principal Rules are amended by repeal Rule 321 and substituting the following rule:— BOOKMAKERS MAY PLACE BETS OTHER THAN TO REDUCE LIABILITY. RULE 321. BOOKMAKERS SHALL: (a) Upon making a bet on his own behalf, clearly record in his betting book immediately such bet is made, the name of the bookmaker with whom the bet was made, and in the case of a cash bet, shall set out the number of the relevant betting ticket, if such bet is place on the totalisator, it must be indicated when the bet was made and full details must be shown in his betting book. (b) Make his own bets in respect of all horses, greyhounds and other approved sporting contingencies which he backs, except where such bets are made on the totalisator in which case such bets may be made on his behalf by a licensed clerk employed by him for that meeting, but provided such clerk shall not be employed specifically for that purpose. Amendment of Rule 344 9. Rule 344 of the Principal Rules is amended by inserting the words:— “/bookmakers clerk” after the word “bookmaker” where it appears in Rule 344.” ENDNOTES 1.
