REGULATIONS UNDER THE ROXBY DOWNS (INDENTURE RATIFICATION)

ACT, 1982

Roxby Downs (Local Government Arrangement) Regulations, 1986

being

1. These regulations may be cited as the Roxby Downs (Local Government Arrangement)

Regulations, 1986.

2. (1) Notwithstanding the provisions of the Local Government Act, 1934, for the purpose of

giving effect to clause 23 of the Olympic Dam and Stuart Shelf Indenture—

(a)

a proclamation made under the Local Government Act, 1934, constituting a municipal council in pursuance of clause 23 need not—

(i)

determine whether the council is to have a mayor or a chairman;

(ii)

determine the number of councillors who are to constitute, or to be included in, the membership of the council;

(iii)

divide the area of the council into wards;

(iv)

determine the boundaries of each ward and the number of councillors to be elected for each ward;

(v)

determine whether the membership of the council is to include aldermen;

(vi)

appoint, or provide for the election of, the first members of the council;

and

(b)

section 15 of the Local Government Act, 1934, shall not apply in relation to the making of such a proclamation.

(2) A further proclamation providing for the matters referred to in subregulation (1)(a)
