Explanatory note
Schedule 2 to the Roman Catholic Church Communities’ Lands Act 1942 contains canonical and corporate names of certain Roman Catholic orders, congregations, communities, associations and societies. By virtue of being listed in that Schedule, each such organisation is a community as defined in the Act and, by virtue of the Act, the trustees for the community become a body corporate and acquire the powers conferred by the Act in relation to property held by them. The Act provides for such a body corporate to be wound up, and for the corporate name of the body corporate and the canonical name of the relevant community to be omitted from Schedule 2.
The Trustees of the Conference of Leaders of Religious Institutes in New South Wales has been voluntarily wound up. The object of this Proclamation is to omit the corporate name of that body corporate and the canonical name of its community from Schedule 2 to the Act.
This Proclamation is made under section 26 of the Roman Catholic Church Communities’ Lands Act 1942.
