This Act may be cited as "The Rockhampton Short title Harbour Board Acts Amendment Act of 1917," and shall ::struction be read as one with "The Rockhampton Harbour Board of Ad. S. eight of "The Rockhampton Harbour Board Act, 1895,"* as enacted by sectiQn two of "The Rockhampton Harbour Board Acts Amendment Act of 1914" t:- • (i.) In paragraph (.f) of subsection one, after the word "Councillors" the words" of the Town of Blackall and" are inserted; also, after the word "Aramac" the word "Blackall" is repealed. (ii.) In subsection three, after the words "Mount Morgan" the words" and of Fitzroy and Livingstone" are inserted. (iii.) After paragraph (b) of the said subsection, the following paragraph is inserted:- (c) For the purposes of the election of a member the Shires of Fitzroy and Livingstone shall be considered to be one Area, and the respective voters' rolls thereof shall be considered to be voters' rolls respectively of divisions of such Area. If at any time the boundaries of both or either of such Shires are changed and a new Area is created comprising land formi~ g part of both or either of such Shires, the member assigned to such Shires shall continue to be so assigned, and the group shall include the new Area, and the ratepayers thereof shall join in the election of the member assigned to the group. (iv.) In subsection four the words "paragraphs (d), (e), and (I)" are repealed, and the words "paragraphs (e) and (I)" are inserted in lieu thereof. Amendment 3. In section ten of "The Rockhampton Harbour ~ f 61 Vie. The following pro vision is added to the said section ten:- In the case of the illness or absence from any cause Dep~ ty .of the Chairman, the Board shall appoint one of its Chamnan. members to act as Deputy Chairman during the time of :such illness or absence; and the Deputy Chairman, while ;80 acting and. until the Cha,irman return.s or notifies the derk in writing, under his hand, of the fact of his :recovery from illness (but within the term of office of .such Chairman), may do all acts that the Chairman as such might do. A minute made and authenticated in the prescribed manner of the appointment of any person as Deputy Chairman shall, as regards all persons having any busines~ with the Board and acting in good faith, be deemed con- , -elusive evidence of the validity of the appointment of such person as Deputy Chairman and of his continued authority to act as such, and shall relieve all persons haVing business as aforesaid from the necessity of making any inquiries in the matter.
