1. The applicant requires an extension of time within which to seek special leave to appeal from the whole of a judgment of the Full Court of the Federal Court of Australia (Perram, Katzmann and Kennett JJ) which dismissed an appeal from a judgment of the Federal Court of Australia (Besanko J) dismissing the applicant's claims for defamation.

2. The application for special leave raises no question of legal principle and the proposed appeal has insufficient prospects of success. It would therefore be futile to grant the extension of time sought.

3. Special leave to appeal is refused with costs.
