B E it enacted by the Queen’s Most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legis­ lative Assembly of Queensland in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:— 1. (1.) This Act may be cited as “ The Roads short title. (Contribution to Maintenance) Act Amendment Act of 1958.” (2.) *“ The Roads (Contribution to Maintenance) Act Principal of 1957,” is herein referred to as the Principal Act. Act (3.) The Principal Act and this Act may be Collective collectively cited as “ The Roads (Contribution to tltle' Maintenance) Acts , 1957 to 1958.” 2. Section two of the Principal Act is amended by Amendment repealing the definition “ “ Commercial goods vehicle ” of s- 2‘ or “ vehicle ” ” therein and inserting, in lieu of that repealed definition, the following definition :— “ “ Commercial goods vehicle ” or “ vehicle ”— Any motor vehicle (together with any trailer for the time being attached thereto) which is used or intended to be used for carrying goods for hire or reward or for any consideration or in the course of any trade or business whatsoever, but does not include any such motor vehicle— (a) The load capacity of which (together with any trailer for the time being attached thereto) does not exceed four tons; or (b) While being used solely for any or some of the purposes specified in the Third Schedule or while travelling unladen directly to or from the business premises of the owner of the vehicle so as to be so used or after having been so used; ”. * 6 Eliz. 2 No. 37.

The Second Schedule to the Principal Act is amended— (a) By repealing the words and brackets “ *“ The Roads (Contribution to Maintenance) Act of 1957,” ”, where appearing at the beginning of that Schedule, and inserting, in lieu of those repealed words and brackets, the words and brackets “ f“ The Roads (Contribution to Maintenance) Acts , 1957 to 1958,” ” ; (b) By inserting, after and beneath the words and figures “ During Month of 19 . ”, the words and brackets “ ( Exclude any journeys exempted.) ” ; . (c) By inserting before the words “ D etails of C harges P ayable (B ased on one - third of a penny A TON MILE AS DEFINED IN NOTE BELOW).”, the Words---- “ N ote .—Journeys exempted are journeys while the vehicle is being used solely for any or some of the following purposes, or while travelling unladen directly to or from the business premises of the owner of the vehicle so as to be so used or after having been so used, such purposes being the carriage of milk or cream and, on the return trip, any empty containers used on the outward trip for the carriage of either such commodity.” ; and ( d) By inserting, after the words “ the State of Queensland ” where those words appear in the last paragraph of that Schedule (being the paragraph commencing with the words “I, of , being the owner ”), the words and brackets “ (other than journeys exempted by the Act) ”. New Third Schedule added. 4. The following Schedule is added to the Principal Act:— “ T hird S chedule .
