AN ACT to make further provision for the Conservation and Improvement of Roads in the several Districts of the Colony.

[Assented to, 31st December, 1875.]

HEREAS the practice obtaining in many districts of the

Winstead of abreast of each other, is damaging to the roads whereColony, of driving the leading horses in teams following

such practice prevails, and it is therefore expedient to make provision whereby such practice may be disallowed; Be it therefore enacted, by His Excellency the Governor of Western Australia and its Dependencies, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council thereof, as follows:-

1 THE Local Board of any District in the Colony duly appointed under the provisions of " The District Roads Act, 1871," is hereby empowered from time to time to make regulations directing the manner in which the leading horses in teams shall be driven or yoked upon any road or roads within the district, and the said regulations from time to time to alter, vary, or repeal.

Conservation and Improvement of Roads.

2 ANY such regulations, when made, shall be published in the

Government Gazette, and shall come into operation from and after

the expiration of two calendar months from such publication.

3 ANY person committing a breach of any of the said

regulations shall, on conviction, forfeit. and pay a penalty not exceeding Five pounds. Such penalty may be recovered in a summary manner before any Court of Petty Sessions holden within the district where the offence is committed, and shall be paid to and applied to the uses of the Local , Board of such district.

4 SECTION B of "The Shortening Ordinance, 1853," shall be

incorporated with and taken to form part of this Act.
