His Excellency the Governor, with the advice of' the Executive Council, has made the following Regulation under the Roads Act 1993.

Explanatory note

The object of this Regulation is to authorise a roads authority to exempt a

person or class of persons from complying with clause 17 and with one or more of the provisions of Division 1 of Part 4 of the Roads (General) Regulation 1994, which prohibits certain actions by persons on bridges and governs the action of persons on bridges and approaches to bridges (clause 39).

This Regulation is made under the Roads Act 1993, including section 264 (the general regulation making power, in particular section 264 (1) (c)).

1 Name of Regulation

This Regulation is the Roads (General) (Bridge Exemption)

Amendment Regulation 1996.

2 Commencement

This Regulation commences on l December 1996.

3 Amendment of Roads (General) Regulation 1994

The Roads (General) Regulation 1994 is amended as set out in

Schedule 1.

4 Notes

The explanatory note does not form part of this Regulation.

Schedule 1 Amendments

(Clause 3)

  1. Clause 17 (2)

    Insert at the end of clause 17:

(2) A roads authority may, either unconditionally or subject to conditions, exempt any person or class of persons in writing from the operation of this clause.

    Insert after clause 47:

    47A Exemptions

    A roads authority may, either unconditionally or subject to conditions, exempt any person or class of persons i n writing from the operation of any provision or provisions of this Division.
