Regulation under the Road Transport Act 2013.

Explanatory note
The object of this Regulation is to ensure the current vehicle standards for street rods in NSW as contained in the Street Rods (Vehicle Standard Compliance Specification) Order 2015, gazetted on 20 February 2015, continue to apply beyond the expiry date (31 January 2016) for that Order. This Regulation incorporates the standards in the Road Transport (Vehicle Registration) Regulation 2007 from 1 February 2016.
This Regulation is made under the Road Transport Act 2013, including sections 23 (the general regulation-making power) and 24–26 and Schedule 1.

1 Name of Regulation
This Regulation is the Road Transport (Vehicle Registration) Amendment (Vehicle
Standards) Regulation 2016.
2 Commencement
This Regulation commences on 1 February 2016 and is required to be published on the NSW legislation website.
3 Amendment of Road Transport (Vehicle Registration) Regulation 2007
Clause 55A Modifications to registered light vehicles
Omit clause 55A (2). Insert instead:
(2) A light vehicle, or a modification to a light vehicle, is taken to comply with the applicable vehicle standards for the registered light vehicle if:
(a) the vehicle complies with the Authority standard compliance specifications, or (b) the vehicle complies with those provisions of Vehicle Standards Bulletin 14 that relate to the way in which the relevant modification is to be undertaken, or (c) in the case of a street rod vehicle, the construction and any modification of the vehicle is in accordance with: (i) the National Guidelines for the Construction and Modification of Street Rods in Australia, as published on the Authority’s website, and
(ii) the NSW Supplement to the National Guidelines for the Construction and Modification of Street Rods in Australia, as published on the Authority’s website.
