Explanatory note
The object of this Regulation is to include vehicles driven by members of the State Emergency Service in the definition of emergency vehicle in the Road Transport (Vehicle Registration) Regulation 2007. Amending the definition will allow such vehicles to be fitted with sirens and flashing or rotating lights for use in emergency situations.

The Regulation also makes amendments of a law revision nature. regulation-making power) and 24 and clause 3 of Schedule 1.

1      Name of Regulation

This Regulation is the Road Transport (Vehicle Registration) Amendment (State
Emergency Service Vehicles) Regulation 2014.

2      Commencement

This Regulation commences on the day on which it is published on the NSW legislation website.

3 Amendment of Road Transport (Vehicle Registration) Regulation 2007

(1) Schedule 2 Vehicle standards

Omit “, (4) or (5)” from clause 124 (2). Insert instead “or (4)”.

(2) Schedule 2, clause 124 (2)
Insert “or be fitted with” after “display”.
(3) Schedule 2, clause 124 (7)
Omit “Any such light”.
Insert instead “A light that may be fitted under subclause (4)”.
(4) Dictionary
Insert after paragraph (c) of the definition of emergency vehicle:
(c1) a member of the State Emergency Service providing transport in
the course of an emergency, or
