Road Transport (Safety and Traffic Management) Act 1999

  1. Name of regulations

    These regulations are the Road Transport (Safety and Traffic Management) Amendment Regulations 2003 (No 1).

  2. Commencement

    These regulations commence on a day fixed by the Minister by written notice.

    Note 1The naming and commencement provisions automatically commence on the notification day (see Legislation Act, s 75 (1)).

    Note 2A single day or time may be fixed, or different days or times may be fixed, for the commencement of different provisions (see Legislation Act, s 77 (1)).

    Note 3If a provision has not commenced within 6 months beginning on the notification day, it automatically commences on the first day after that period (see Legislation Act, s 79).

  3. Regulations amended

    These regulations amend the Road Transport (Safety and Traffic Management) Regulations 2000.

  4. Division 2.2.1, note 2, table

    after the reference to the Australian Road Rules, rule 10 (2), insert

8AARR r 25 (2)—default speed-limit in built-up area

For the Australian Road Rules, rule 25 (1), and despite rule 25 (2), the default speed-limit applying to a driver for a length of road in a built-up area is 50km/h.

NoteARR r 25 (2) provides a 60km/h default speed-limit for a built-up area.
