Explanatory note

The object of this Regulation is to impose general speed limits of 90 and 100 km/hr power).

1     Name of Regulation

This Regulation is the Road Transport (Safety and Traffic Management) (Road Rules) Amendment (Graduated Licensing) Regulation 2000.

2 Commencement

This Regulation commences on 1 July 2000.

The Road Transport (Safety and Traffic Management) (Road Rules)

Regulation 1999 is amended as set out in Schedule 1.

[1]     Clause 38 Special speed limits

Insert after clause 38 (4):

(5) The holder of a provisional P1 licence must not drive a motor
vehicle on a road at a speed in excess of 90 km/h.
Penalty and disqualification: a person who contravenes this
subclause is guilty of an offence and is liable to a maximum
penalty and a period of disqualification (if any) determined in
accordance with clause 154.
(6) The holder of a provisional P2 licence must not drive a motor
vehicle on a road at a speed in excess of 100 km/h.
Penalty and disqualification: a person who contravenes this
subclause is guilty of an offence and is liable to a maximum
penalty and a period of disqualification (if any) determined in
accordance with clause 154.

provisional P1 licence means a provisional licence issued in accordance with clause 15 of the Road Transport (Driver Licensing) Regulation 1999.

provisional P2 licence means a provisional licence issued in accordance with clause 15A of the Road Transport (Driver Licensing) Regulation 1999.
