(Keep Left Offences) Regulation 2010

The Administrator, with the advice of the Executive Council, has made the following
Regulation under the Road Transport (General) Act 2005.

Explanatory note
Rule 132 of the Road Rules 2008 requires drivers to keep to the left of the centre of a road or of the dividing line on a road and prohibits the making of a U-turn across dividing lines.The object of this Regulation is to increase the penalty for an offence under Rule 132 of the Road Rules 2008 by a class B or class C motor vehicle (that is, a heavy vehicle) in a Safe-T-Cam zone or average speed detection zone, if the offence is dealt with by way of a penalty notice. The offence for those vehicles in those zones will change from a Level 5 penalty notice offence (currently $258) to a Level 11 penalty notice offence (currently $1,031).
This Regulation is made under the Road Transport (General) Act 2005, including section 10
(the general regulation-making power).

1 Name of Regulation
This Regulation is the Road Transport (General) Amendment (Keep
Left Offences) Regulation 2010.
2 Commencement
This Regulation commences on the day on which it is published on the
NSW legislation website.

Omit “Rule 132;” from the matter relating to the Road Rules 2008.

Insert before the matter relating to Rule 146 of the Road Rules 2008:

(a) in relation to a class B or class C motor vehicle in Class 1 Level 11 a Safe-T-Cam zone or average speed detection
