Her Excellency the Governor, with the advice of the Executive Council, has made the following Regulation under the Road Transport (Driver Licensing) Act 1998.

Explanatory note
The object of this Regulation is to amend the Road Transport (Driver Licensing) Regulation

2008 to remove or reduce demerit points as follows:

(a)	offences relating to entering or driving in roundabouts, towing vehicles, driving in a truck lane and the use of indicators, for which no points are incurred under the national schedule of demerit points, will no longer incur demerit points,
(b)	offences relating to keeping left on multi-lane roads, keeping left of oncoming vehicles, keeping left of median strips and keeping left on two-way roads without dividing lines or median strips and relating to overtaking will now incur the same number of demerit points (down from 3 to 2) as under the national schedule of demerit points,
(c)	offences relating to driving in a bus lane or in a T-way, for which no points are incurred under the national schedule of demerit points, will now incur 1 demerit point instead of 3 demerit points,
(d)	the offence of driving in a tram lane will no longer incur demerit points.

This Regulation is made under sections 14 and 19 (the general regulation-making power) of the Road Transport (Driver Licensing) Act 1998.

1      Name of Regulation

This Regulation is the Road Transport (Driver Licensing) Amendment
(Demerit Points Reductions) Regulation 2010.

2      Commencement

This Regulation commences on 31 December 2010 and is required to be published on the NSW legislation website.

Insert instead in appropriate order:
