Road Traffic (Vehicles) Amendment Regulations (No. 2) 2024

Made by the Governor in Executive Council.

1.Citation

These regulations are the Road Traffic (Vehicles) Amendment Regulations (No. 2) 2024.

2.Commencement

These regulations come into operation as follows —

• (a)

  regulations 1 and 2 — on the day on which these regulations are published on the WA legislation website;

• (b)

  the rest of the regulations — on the day after that day.

3.Regulations amended

These regulations amend the Road Traffic (Vehicles) Regulations 2014.

4.Regulation 270 amended

• (1)

  Before regulation 270(1) insert:

   
• (1A)

  In this regulation —

principal grooves, in relation to a tyre, means wide grooves, other than secondary grooves —

• (a)

  usually positioned in the central zone of the tyre tread but that may run across the tyre tread; and

• (b)

  in which tread wear indicators are usually located;

secondary grooves, in relation to a tyre, means shallow grooves in the tyre tread that may disappear during the life of the tyre through wear;

tread wear indicators, in relation to a tyre, means projections within a groove of the tyre that indicate the degree of wear on the tyre’s tread.

• (2)

  In regulation 270(2):

  • (a)

    after “deep” insert:

     

  in all principal grooves on the tyre

   
  • (b)

    in paragraph (a)(ii) after “for” insert:

     

  a
