Road Traffic (Road Rules—Ancillary and Miscellaneous Provisions) (Compliance Vehicles and Exemptions) Amendment Regulations 2024

under the Road Traffic Act 1961

Part 1Preliminary1Short title

These regulations may be cited as the Road Traffic (Road Rules—Ancillary and Miscellaneous Provisions) (Compliance Vehicles and Exemptions) Amendment Regulations 2024.

2Commencement

These regulations come into operation on the day on which they are made.

3Amendment of regulation 9 – Special provisions relating to no U-turn signs

Regulation 9(1)—after paragraph (ab) insert:

  1. (ac)

    a vehicle being driven on the South Eastern Freeway by—

    1. (i)

      an authorised officer under the Heavy Vehicle National Law (South Australia) while conducting on-road safety, compliance, enforcement or investigation activities under the Heavy Vehicle National Law (South Australia); or

    2. (ii)

      an authorised officer under the Road Traffic Act 1961 while conducting on-road safety, compliance, enforcement or investigation activities under that Act; or

4Insertion of regulation 45A

After regulation 45 insert:

45A—Exemptions for certain authorised officers

Despite anything in the Rules, a provision of the Rules referred to in rule 310(2) does not apply to an authorised officer while conducting on-road safety, compliance or enforcement activities under the Act in connection with an emergency, crash or other incident if it is not practicable for the authorised officer to comply with the provision.
