Road Traffic (Licensing) Amendment
Regulations (No. 3) 2000
Made by the Administrator in Executive Council.
1. Citation
These regulations may be cited as the Road Traffic (Licensing)
Amendment Regulations (No. 3) 2000.2. Commencement
These regulations come into operation on 31 May 2000.
3. The regulations amended
The amendments in these regulations are to the Road Traffic
(Licensing) Regulations 1975*.[* Reprinted as at 11 February 2000. For amendments to 4 May 2000 see Gazette

4. Regulation 9A amended
Regulation 9A(5) is amended by deleting the full stop and inserting instead —
“ or a mass greater than 42.5 tonnes. ”.
5. Schedule 3 amended
(1) Schedule 3 clause 1 is amended in by inserting before “In” the
subclause designation “(1)”.(2) At the end of Schedule 3 clause 1 the following subclauses are
inserted —“
(2) For the purposes of this Schedule, a vehicle exceeds the
maximum permissible axle loading if, and only if, the mass
supported on any axle or axle group of the vehicle exceeds
the maximum prescribed under regulation 1401 of the Road
Traffic (Vehicle Standards) Regulations 1975.(3) In this Schedule — “motor wagon derivative” means a tractor (not prime mover type), tractor plant, forklift truck, tow motor or

mobile crane, in which the forward part of the body
form and the greater part of the mechanical equipmentare the same as in a motor wagon;
“trailer derivative” means a caravan (trailer type) or plant
trailer, in which the body form and the greater part of
the mechanical equipment are the same as in a trailer orsemi-trailer.
”.

The Table to Schedule 3 is amended by deleting “and 1 other trailer” in column 4 of the items beginning “1LP2”, “1LP3”, “1LP4” and “1LP5”, under the heading “Tractor (prime mover
type)”. (4)
The Table to Schedule 3 is amended by deleting the heading “Caravan (trailer type), plant trailer, tractor (not prime mover
type), tractor plant, forklift truck, tow motor, mobile crane” and
all of the Table after that heading, and inserting instead the
following —“
Caravan (trailer type), plant trailer, tractor (not prime mover
type), tractor plant, forklift truck, tow motor, mobile craneOther than motor wagon derivative or trailer derivative

6. Transitional
A licence for a vehicle of a class described in the portion of the
Table deleted by regulation 5(4) is to be taken to be a licence for
the appropriate class of vehicle described in the portion of the
Table inserted by that regulation.
