ROAD TRAFFIC (FEES FOR VEHICLE LICENCES) REGULATIONS 1998

Made by the Governor in Executive Council.

Citation

1.These regulations may be cited as the Road Traffic (Fees for Vehicle Licences)

Regulations 1998.

Commencement

2.These regulations come into operation on 15 May 1998.

Specified day: section 28A

3.For the purposes of section 28A of the Act, the specified day in relation to these

regulations is 1 July 1998.
Road Traffic Act 1974 amended

4.The amendments in these regulations are to Part III of Schedule 2 to the Road Traffic

Act 1974*.

Second Schedule amended

5.(1) Division 1 is amended in item 1 (1) as follows:

(b)	by deleting the definition of "family vehicle";
(c)	after the definition of "heavy vehicle" by deleting the semicolon and inserting a

full stop;

(d)	by deleting the definition of "MRC".
(2)	Division 1 is amended in item 1 (2) by deleting paragraphs (a) and (b).
(3)	Divisions 2 and 3 are deleted and the following Division is inserted instead —

Division 2 — Licence fees for vehicles other than heavy vehicles

Calculation of licence fees

1. The licence fee payable for a vehicle other than a heavy vehicle for a period of

12 months is calculated in accordance with this Division.

Caravan (motor propelled), motor car, motor carrier, motor wagon,
omnibus or tow truck
2. For a caravan (motor propelled), motor car, motor carrier, motor wagon, omnibus
or tow truck the fee is $12.00 per 100 kg or part thereof of tare weight, subject to
a maximum fee equal to the fee payable for licence class 1R2 under item 4 of

Division 4 of this Schedule.

Tractor (prime mover type)
3. For a tractor (prime mover type) the fee is $12.00 per 100 kg or part thereof of
tare weight, subject to a maximum fee equal to the fee payable for licence class
5P2 under item 5 of Division 4 of this Schedule.

Converter dolly trailer, semi-trailer or other trailer not being a plant trailer

4. For a converter dolly trailer, semi-trailer or any other trailer not being a plant
trailer the fee is $6.00 per 100 kg or part thereof of tare weight.
Caravan (trailer type), fork lift truck, mobile crane, plant trailer, tow
motor or tractor plant
5. For a caravan (trailer type), fork lift truck, mobile crane, plant trailer, tow
motor or tractor plant the fee is $3.00 per 100 kg or part thereof of tare weight.
Motor cycle

6.(1) For a motor cycle with an engine capacity not exceeding 250 cubic

centimetres the fee is $24.00.

(2) For a motor cycle with an engine capacity exceeding 250 cubic centimetres

the fee is $36.00.
