Road Traffic (Drivers’ Licences) Amendment
Regulations (No. 2) 2007
Made by the Governor in Executive Council.
1. Citation
These regulations are the Road Traffic (Drivers’ Licences)
Amendment Regulations (No. 2) 2007.2. Commencement
These regulations come into operation as follows:
(a) regulations 1 and 2 — on the day on which these regulations are published in the Gazette (“Gazettal day”); (b) the rest of the regulations — on the day after Gazettal day. 3. The regulations amended
The amendments in these regulations are to the Road Traffic
(Drivers’ Licences) Regulations 1975.4. Regulation 5 amended
(1) Regulation 5(3) is amended as follows:
(a)
in paragraph (b) by inserting after “in which case” — “
, if the holder of the licence has reached
21 years of age,
”;
(b) after paragraph (b) by deleting the full stop and inserting “
; or
(c)
as of class T, in which case, if the holder of the licence has not reached 21 years of age, the licence confers the authority to drive a motor vehicle to which the licence is appropriate for the purposes of carrying passengers for reward

as a taxi under the Taxi Act 1994 or the
Transport Co-ordination Act 1966.
”.
(2) Regulation 5(4) is amended as follows:
(a) by deleting “or class T”; (b) after paragraph (e) by deleting the semicolon and “and” and inserting a full stop instead; (c) by deleting paragraph (f); (d) after each of paragraphs (a), (b), (c) and (d) by inserting — “ and ”.
(3) After regulation 5(4) the following subregulation is inserted — “
(4a) The Director General may, on an application by a
person and on payment of the relevant fee prescribed
under the Road Traffic (Charges and Fees)
Regulations 2006, endorse a driver’s licence held by
the person as of class T if the Director General is
satisfied that the person —
(a) has reached the age of 20 years; and (b)
has held the licence as an unrestricted licence for a period of, or periods amounting in the aggregate to, one year; and
(c) is of good character; and (d)
is mentally and physically fit to drive a motor vehicle for the purposes of carrying passengers for reward; and
(e)
has successfully completed a training course or test approved by the Director General.
