Road Traffic Code Amendment Regulations

(No. 2) 2016

Made by the Governor in Executive Council.

1.            Citation

These regulations are the Road Traffic Code Amendment
Regulations (No. 2) 2016.

2.            Commencement

These regulations come into operation as follows —

(a)

regulations 1 and 2 — on the day on which these regulations are published in the Gazette;

(b) the rest of the regulations — on the day after that day.

3.            Regulations amended

These regulations amend the Road Traffic Code 2000.

4.            Regulation 216 replaced

Delete regulation 216 and insert:

216.        Paths

(1)

For the purposes of this regulation, a bicycle is abreast of another bicycle if any part of it is by the side of any part of the other.

(2) The rider of a bicycle on a path must give way to a
pedestrian who is on, or is crossing, the path.
Modified penalty: 1 PU
(3) The rider of a bicycle on a path must keep to the left of
the path unless it is impracticable to do so.
Modified penalty: 1 PU
(4) The rider of a bicycle on a path must not ride so that
the bicycle is travelling abreast of any other bicycle on
the path.
Modified penalty: 1 PU
(5) Subregulations (3) and (4) do not prevent a rider from
overtaking or passing other persons on the path.

5.            Regulation 253 amended

Delete regulation 253(2)(e) and (0 and insert:

(e) a person riding a bicycle on a path; or
